The Maa Bamleshwari Devi Temple in Dongargarh is set to become a key centre of religious tourism following the completion of the development project for Rs 43.33 crores, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Tuesday.
It will also open new avenues in tourism development and employment to local residents, Baghel said.
Under the Central government’s Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD), the bhoomi pujan event was done by Baghel in the presence of Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel virtually.
Tourism Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu conducted the rituals at the temple premises. Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat was present.In October, Dongargarh was selected under PRASAD, a Central scheme that focuses on identifying and developing pilgrim sites to enrich religious tourism.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to include the development of Kabir Chabutra, Rajmergarh and Shiv Temples in Chhattisgarh with the Amarkantak development project under the PRASAD scheme.
Patel said Chandragiri Teerth will be included in the Dongargarh project. He laid emphasis on completion of the project within the time-frame.
