BBSR lawyers protest OAT case record shift to Cuttack

Sunday, 04 April 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Protesting a decision to shift case records from the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT), Principal Bench, Bhubaneswar, to the OAT Regular Bench, Cuttack, the Odisha State Administrative Tribunal (OSAT) Bar Association here has urged the Government to refrain from the move.

In a Press meet, the association also warned of launching agitation if the Government did not wait till the final judgement of the Orissa High Court on abolition of State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) was delivered.

“You are well aware of conclusion of final hearing of the SAT abolition issue by Orissa High Court in WP(C) No 13789 of 2019 and Batch of cases wef 03. 03. 2021 and the judgement is reserved. It is also to remind you that the interim order of status quo granted earlier by the High Court is continuing till date. At this juncture such hurried decision is unexpected and beyond imagination,” said the association in its protest petition to the GA and PG Department.

The association alleged that when the judgement in the case has not been delivered, the Government’s decision to shift records from Principal Bench OAT, Bhubaneswar to Cuttack is a humiliation to its members and urged the Government to wait till the judgement is delivered by the High Court.

Association president Sudhir Charan Mohanty, Niroj Kumar Mohapatra, Rabi Sankar Pattanayak, Anata Acharya and Kulanandan Das among others were present at the Press meet.
