Begumpur best police station of Delhi

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava on Friday presented “Certificate of Excellence” to Station House Officer (SHO) of Begumpur police station, Inspector Jai Bhagwan, for being selected as the best police station of Delhi among top 10 police stations of India 2020. 

“The ranking is done on the basis of prefixed parameters by the Ministry of Home Affairs annually, and are conducted to incentivise effective functioning of police stations and bring healthy competition among them,” said Chinmoy Biswal, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Delhi Police.

“The surveys were conducted across the country, and the police stations were selected based on data analysis, direct observation and public feedback. The survey team also randomly visited various areas -- Rajiv Nagar, Jain Nagar, Begumpur falling under the jurisdiction of Begumpur police station and recorded citizens’ feedback. They also noticed checking being conducted at the pickets and observed the actual on ground situation,” said Biswal.

“The survey team further analysed the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems) entries and Records of Police Station. They visited the Malkhanas as well as inspected the basic amenities for visitors, waiting areas, toilets, drinking water, public facilitation desks, barracks, separate rooms for women constable, safety and security of armoury and other parameters as per the standards for best police station, and adjudged  Begumpur as the best police station in Delhi,” Biswal added.

“To bolster effective policing, staff of Begumpur police station in coordination with members of public got installed around 400 CCTV cameras  in 2019-2020. Inspector Jai Bhagwan, SHO Begampur also took an initiative to involve good Samaritans and youth in order to control crime,” said Bsiwal.

“A gang of snatchers and robbers was apprehended by team of Begumpur police station actively involved in committing crime in Sector 37, Rohini through active engagement of youth who participated in police patrolling during evening and night hours for 20-25 days,” said the PRO.

“The police team of Begumpur police station has also taken several initiatives to promote community friendly policing like Child friendly room, redressing the complaints of vulnerable sections on a priority basis and stringent action against gangsters and property offenders while being accessible for public,” said Biswal.
