Leading the SAS Nagar district (Mohali) in Covid-19 vaccination, Bhajouli village has created a record on Monday with 100 per cent coverage of its entire 18-plus population. Besides, five other villages of the district have also achieved 100 per cent coverage of its 45-plus population.
“All villages are doing by and large good work in vaccination. Five of our villages - Tarouli, Rasoolpur, Barsalpur, Madanheri, and Bahadurgarh - have successfully covered 100 per cent of the 45-plus population while Bhajouli is leading the district by vaccinating its entire 18-plus population,” said Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan.
The population of Bhajouli village is 536, out of which 356 residents are above 18 years. Barring two, who have gone abroad, all eligible persons have been vaccinated on Monday with at least one dose of vaccine, he added.
The village Panchayat has thus emerged pioneer among local civic bodies to be eligible for a special development grant of Rs 10 lakh, announced earlier by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, for villages achieving cent percent Covid vaccination target in Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner congratulated the village Panchayat and the residents and urged other villages of district to put in their best efforts under ‘Corona Mukt Pind Abhiyan’ to get 100 percent of its people vaccinated so that we can weed out Covid-19 from our society.
He appreciated the hard work done by the healthcare workers, the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) and the local administration that persuaded the eligible beneficiaries and organised special camps for them.
“Hope more villages of our district would also soon attain 100 per cent vaccinated status,” said Dayalan.
