Bhopal Shakespeare Fest enthuses Bhopalites

Cherishing the virtual gathering of The Bhopal Shakespeare Festival, the Bhopalites are enjoying the events with full of ecstasy.

The fest is scheduled from April 21to 24. Marking the second day of the fest, the theme for the session is ‘ Shakespeare and the Brave New World’.

The festival began with a poster making competition 'All's Well If Drawn Well' where colour meets creativity. The fest ‘Shakespeare and The Visual Culture’  commenced at 6 PM held via zoom. The started with Shivangi telling the idea and theme of the second day competition of festival 'All's Well if Drawn Well'.

She told the audience that there were total of 63 entries in this catagory and the judey shortlisted top 10 entries. These top 10 entries were present in front of the audience and each participant was asked to talk about thier posters.

The  jury of the competition were Anita Julaniya, Nishi Agarwal and Swati Rajoria. They said the posters were wonderful and to judge according to the theme was a tough task. After this an expert Shubhajeet Sen Gupta head of the English and cultural studies department, University of Burdwan, West Bengal presented a segment 'Shakespeare and The Visual Culture'.

He emphasised the idea of a painting of the Shakespearean era and appriciated the visual culture.  Later, the winners of the Shakespeare poster making competition ‘All's Well If Drawn Well‘ were announced. The results were shortlisted based on the theme and positive message showcased in them.

Seema Raizada, the president of the club concluded the session by announcing the winners of the poster making competition. The first prize was won by Nilotama Singh, second prize was bagged by Nitya sarode and third prize was won by Minal Shah.

A total of 60 people attended the session. Today the third event of the festival ‘The Winner's Tale’ will be conducted via the same media at 6 PM. Winners of the storytelling competition 'The Winner's Tale’ will be announced in this session today.

All the events are open to the public and constantly updating on the social media handles of the club. The club is also going to showcase some posters on their social media. The session ended with thank you note, encouraging the participants to keep the essence steady in the pandemic.
