The State BJP of Opposition and the Congress of the ruling alliance on Wednesday locked horns on the controversial 7-10th civil services examination conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo addressed a press conference and alleged the Congress for protecting scams.
"This is very interesting to see that Congress is desperately trying to justify the scam. Now out of desperation, it is levelling baseless allegations against the BJP," said Shahdeo.
He said that the BJP and party’s State president Deepak Prakash had raised the matter of alleged corruption worth Rs 196 Crore in the construction of cricket infrastructure. "The chairperson of JPSC, Amitabh Choudhary was the president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) when this matter had come to light. Since Deepak Prakash had raised this matter he was denied a place in the JSCA," Shahdeo said.
The BJP sought to know whether the Congress was soft to JPSC chairperson and also demanded the Congress to make its stand clear over protesting JPSC aspirants beaten by the police.
He said that the BJP wants to know whether the Congress is against the students who were brutally thrashed. Is Congress in defence of JPSC President? Is Congress engaged in promoting corruption? Is Congress with JPSC's arbitrary stand? Is Congress with the scam?
“JPSC can't afford to stay silent on this matter for long. It will have to reply to how a large number of students having a serial wise roll number passed the preliminary examination, who were allotted the same room to write their answer sheets. JPSC has to explain how even students below the cut off mark passed the examination. How the JPSC delayed in declaring the cut off marks," he said.
Shahdeo said that the Congress instead attacking the opposition should force the JPSC to disclose CCTV footage of the examination and pressurize the government to take a decision in the favour of the students.
