Defence Minister and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Rajnath Singh, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had always fulfilled the promises it made during elections.
He said the biggest promise was clearance of all obstacles for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and removal of Article 370 relating to Jammu and Kashmir, and both these promises were duly fulfilled by the Narendra Modi government.
"We have also done work for doubling the income of farmers besides increasing employment opportunities and ensuring transparency in appointments," he said.
Addressing the BJP booth chiefs of Kashi region along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other leaders at TD College Grounds in Varanasi on Saturday, Singh exhorted booth workers to work hard to ensure the party's landslide victory in the coming assembly polls.
"Our booth workers are working like Army jawans on the frontiers. Both are serving with full dedication," he said.
“The image of the country has improved during the seven-year rule of the Narendra Modi government and now no country can take us for granted. We have shown to the world and our neighbours what we can do, if we are being attacked. We will not compromise on any issues related to country’s unity and integrity," the defence minister said.
Singh further said that the world had complimented the country, particularly Uttar Pradesh, for effectively controlling novel coronavirus and providing free vaccines to crores of people.
Claiming that the BJP would again win over 300 seats in the 2022 UP assembly polls, he said that the opposition parties themselves knew what the poll results would be in 2022.
In his address, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that all corrupt elements had ganged up against the BJP but the people of the state had come to analyse them very well and they would give them a befitting reply through their ballots.
“The opposition insulted Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary by comparing him with Jinnah. Where were the opposition parties and their leaders during the COVID-19 pandemic period when the BJP workers and leaders and the state government were working for the people? The fact remains that the opposition leaders were in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and now people will isolate them during elections," Yogi said.
BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya along with other BJP leaders of Kashi region attended the meeting.
