Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by presenting gifts to divyangs and kicked-off Bharatiya Janata Party’s 20-day sewa and samarpan campaign which will continue till October 7.

“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has special attachment and sympathy for divyangjan. The word divyang is also the gift of the prime minister. Keeping in mind the attachment of the prime minister to divyangjan, on the occasion of his 71st birthday, a 20-day service dedication programme is being started from today,” the chief minister said after presenting gifts to mentally retarded and differently-abled children at the Nirvana Rehabilitation Centre here on Friday.

He also presented fruits to the children.

The chief minister said that the programme on the occasion of the prime minister's birthday was important because Narendra Modi had given a new direction to the country in various fields. He said the prime minister gave the message that there was talent in divyangjan too and to make that talent useful for society and the country, they had to be given a proper platform.

“My aim of participating in this programme is to assure the disabled children about a bright future on behalf of the prime minister. They are special children and should be treated with compassion and sympathy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party workers celebrated the prime minister's birthday through various service activities, including health check-up and blood donation camps, distribution of fruits in poor settlements, orphanages and old age homes, and cleanliness programmes across the state.

BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, national vice-president and state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh and state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal participated in the service and dedication campaign in various districts of the state.

Swatantra Dev Singh reached the Hanuman Setu temple in Lucknow and lit 71 lamps. Later he also participated in a programme in Prayagraj.

Singh appealed to every party worker to take inspiration from the life of the prime minister while discharging their role in nation building, remain ready for public welfare and service works.

The party's national vice president and state in-charge Shri Radha Mohan Singh honoured the farmers and jawans at a function in Mathura while Sunil Bansal attended a programme in Meerut.
