BJP takes out march for judicial probe

Thursday, 25 November 2021 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Seeking a judicial probe in the Kawardha violence, all Bharatiya Janata Party MPs and MLAs of Chhattisgarh marched to the Chief Minister’s residence here on Wednesday. The police detained all of them.

Led former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, state BJP President Vishnudev Sai and Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, the march began from the BJP head office.

The march was curtailed near the Civil Lines police station by barricades where the leaders staged a sit-in-demonstration raising slogans demanding a judicial probe.

Sai urged the government to order a judicial inquiry into the Kawardha violence. It should also withdraw the FIRs registered against BJP activists.

Violence erupted in Kawardha on October 6 after a rally was taken out in violation of a curfew following a clash between two groups on October 3. The police arrested 58 people based on video footage.
