4 new labs to conduct free dengue test in pb

Chandigarh: Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Sunday dedicated four new laboratories for free testing of dengue to the people of the State on the occasion of National Dengue Day on May 16. The new labs have been made functional at Sub-divisional Hospitals at Kharar, Rajpura, Abohar, and Jagraon. With this, Punjab now has 39 labs across Punjab for free testing of Dengue and Chikungunya.

Nirankari mission holds blood donation camp

Dera Bassi: Sant Nirankari Mission on Sunday organized a Blood Donation Camp at the local Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan. As many as 125 devotees, including women, donated blood during the 15th annual camp of Dera Bassi branch. Chandigarh zonal in-charge KK Kashyap said that due to pandemic, the need for blood has increased manifold. Keeping in view of the current situation, COVID-19 Care Centres are also being set up in various parts of the country.

 

Akali leaders mourn Giani Vedanti’s demise

Amritsar: Senior Akali leaders — Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Ranjit Singh Singh Brahmpura, and patron of All India Sikh Students’ Federation Karnail Singh Peermohammad — on Sunday expressed deep sorrow on the untimely demise of former Jathedar Akal Takhat Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, a Sikh scholar with deep understanding of Gurbani and upright religious leader. They said that Giani Vedanti was the upright Jathedar of the highest Sikh Temporal seat who took many decisions during his term.

 

Awareness key to prevent dengue during COVID-19

Kapurthala: Pushpa Gujral Science City on Sunday celebrated National Dengue Day by organizing a webinar on “Strategies to prevent Dengue epidemic during COVID-19 pandemic”. Around 200 students and teachers from all over Punjab participated through virtual mode.

Punjab Institute of Medical Science, Jalandhar, Director-Principal, Dr Kulbir Kaur — the key speaker — said that as we are already in the grip of a second COVID wave which was putting immense pressure on our healthcare facilities, facing another epidemic of dengue would have devastating consequences and could lead to collapse of the health system.

 

Website launched to find medicines

Chandigarh: To help the people in distress discover verified leads for COVID-19 critical medicines and equipment, OkCredit has announced the launch of a website — Co-aid.in.

The portal provides real-time information on the availability of medicines pan-India besides the contact number of the store for making enquiries.

Users can search for availability by either entering the location name or the pincode on the portal.
