Chhattisgarh's positivity rate has further fallen to 13 percent. After testing 67,738 samples. 9,121 were found positive, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), announced on Friday.
The total active cases in the state is 119,450. Seven districts recorded higher positive cases with Raipur on the top. Twenty-one districts recorded lower positive cases on Friday. There is fluctuation in positive cases among districts, Dr Mishra told the media.
The other concern is the rising cases of ‘Black Fungus’ (Mucormycosis) with 35 patients already referred for treatment in Raipur.
The Health Department suspects that 50 more cases across the state is awaiting referral.
The other Medical Colleges have been asked to develop necessary infrastructure and acquire medicines for the treatment. This will further reduce pressure at Raipur hospitals, said Dr Mishra.
“There is no need to panic as it is not a communicable disease. As per expert doctors, those having taken steroids or have been on oxygen for longer period during Covid treatment and due to existing comorbidities like diabetes are at a higher risk of catching it," he said.
"Covid patients who have recovered should look for symptoms like one-sided facial swelling, headache, nasal or sinus congestion or black lesions on nasal bridge,” Dr Mishra said.
Those having these symptoms should immediately approach a doctor, he added.
