C’garh bags ‘India Green Energy Award’

nChhattisgarh has been given the ‘India Green Energy Award’ under the category ‘Outstanding Renewable Energy Generation Project Category’ by the Indian Federation of Green Energy at a function in New Delhi.

A certificate and memento were received by Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) Raipur Chief Executive Officer Sumit Sarkar from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Baghwant Khuba, an official communication said.

The Chhattisgarh government has been promoting renewable energy alternatives. As part of it, CBDA has worked to set up industries based on conversion of excess paddy into biofuel ethanol as well as cooperation in development of bio-jet aviation fuel and biofuel research sector.

Gadkari also laid emphasis on promotion and production of the bio-fuel sector as per future needs. The agro-products can also be converted into bio-fuels.
