Chhattisgarh on Friday received three prestigious national awards from the Indian government for remarkable work done for the welfare and empowerment of Divyangs.
Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya got the awards from President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities in a function in New Delhi.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel extended his best wishes to the winners.
The Braille Press operated in Bilaspur by the Social Welfare Department bagged the award in the "Best Braille Press" category. The press has done remarkable work in online education in e-library besides preparing textbooks, literature and informative books in Braille.
It also printed Braille ballot papers to help visually impaired exercise their franchise.
The Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority received the award for outstanding work in creating a barrier-free environment (from roads to buildings and public places) in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for Divyangs so that they can move around safely and freely.
The Nukkad Tea Cafe Ventures of Samta Colony in Raipur was conferred the national award in the "Best Employers and Placement Officers or Agencies" category.
The venture is doing outstanding work in connecting hearing impaired people with providing employment and creating positive environment in the society towards Divyangs.
