nChhattisgarh transferred tuition fee to tune of `101 crores under the Right to Education (RTE) Act to accounts of 4,473 private schools in the state on Wednesday.
School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam did the transfer against the admission of 51,985 students during the Covid-19 period.
Till date around 3.65 lakh students have been benefitted under the RTE Act in the state, states an official communication. The event was held at the official residence of the Minister.
Dr Tekam said that for first time the funds have been transferred to the schools online under the RTE Act.
He said for long the private schools have complained that they are not being paid the tuition fees under RTE on time. The online transfer would make the process transparent.
Officials said that for 2019-20, a total of 5,403 schools were listed. out of which 759 did not place the claim. Sixteen schools did not have any bank details while 143 schools' bank accounts were of personal nature.
After counter checking the total schools eligible, payment was released to 4,473 schools. For the academic year 2018-19 and 2019-20, the remaining balance payment is `7.67 crore.
In the academic session of 2020-21, a total of 51,985 students have taken admission under RTE, taking the total of such students to 33.65 lakh. The amount required for 2020-21 is `159 crores.
