Cabinet panel fixes auction rate for excess paddy

A cabinet sub-committee formed to decide on custom milling and auction of excess paddy bought on Minimum Support Price on Wednesday fixed the minimum sales price of the paddy at Rs 1,350-1,400..

A virtual meeting of the Committee held under the Chairmanship of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Amarjeet Bhagat finalized the minimum auction price of the excess paddy purchased under MSP.

The minimum rate of       Rs 1,400 was finalized for the fine grain paddy and Rs 1,350 for the coarse grain paddy. Auction of 12,989 quintals of fine grain paddy and 74,085 quintals course grain was done by the state government.

The excess paddy is the paddy remaining from being reserved for PDS and after handing it over to the Food Corporation of India under the central pool.
