Aiming to provide free medical aid to the underprivileged, a special campaign to provide Golden Health Cards has been started for beneficiaries who do not have Ayushman cards.
On the first day of the campaign, Golden Cards were provided to over 26,000 families of Uttar Pradesh and so far, such cards have been issued to over 6.5 crore beneficiaries in the state under Ayushman Yojana. Using this card, any beneficiary can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in any empanelled hospital.
Stressing that Antyodaya card-holder families would get relief in paying their medical expenses, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the campaign should be conducted with commitment and the benefit of the scheme should be provided to all eligible people.
Last week, during a cabinet meeting, it was decided that over 40 lakh Antyodaya card-holder families of Uttar Pradesh, who were deprived of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana would be linked to Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
“This will not only reduce the financial burden of poor and underprivileged families but will also ensure their access to quality health care services. If the budget of Rs 5 lakh sanctioned for the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana is insufficient, an additional budget will be allocated through a supplementary budget,” the chief minister said.
A proposal to this effect was cleared in a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by the chief minister earlier.
