Coal India Limited subsidiary Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), Director (Personnel), Vinay Ranjan, was awarded “CHRO of the Year Award” by Human Resource Department, Government of India in collaboration with Economic Times, the premier national professional body, in Kolkata on January 31.

This is in recognition for behaviour change in Human Resource service delivery brought at CCL and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) – both subsidiary of Coal India.

The CHRO of the Year Award by HRD India recognize the best practices in corporate governance and promote the culture of good governance and social responsibility in the corporate sector.

 When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the Country, Ranjan was looking after CCL and ECL as the Director of the Personnel Department and he monitored the welfare activities carried out in both the subsidiaries of Coal India,

After receiving the award, Ranjan said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the workforce working in CCL as well as ECL, had done outstanding work to extend support to such individuals who were badly affected during the pandemic. He further said that this award goes to the entire coal families who played crucial role during the crisis and in general.

Ranjan is the Director of the Personnel Department of ECL, who has been given additional charge of CCL and he has been looking various HR activities for over six months.

In the beginning of the month, Rajrappa area of CCL was selected as the best performing unit by Ministry of Coal amongst its various undertakings for the various activities it performed during the Swachchta Month. CMD CCL PM Prasad presented the award on behalf of the Ministry to GM Rajrappa Alok Kumar in a felicitation ceremony organized at CCL Head Quarter in the State Capital.

Swachchta Month was observed throughout the Country as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. CCL left no stone unturned in observing this occasion with zest and vigor.

CCL Rajrappa area organized a plethora of activities during this period to show its commitment towards the Gandhian dream of Swachch Bharat. The activities ranged from plantation, cleaning of residential premises, offices, hospitals to cleaning of wells and drains, cleaning of the Chinnamastika temple to generate awareness amongst the community. Innovative programs like wall paintings and display of Swachchta Banners in Puja Pandals, hospitals and others were also undertaken as a testimony of the enthusiasm of the employees. To engage different stakeholders’ distribution of masks, face shields, sanitizers and Swachchta kits was conducted in schools and to media persons, taxi and auto drivers. They pasted motivational and informational posters about cleanliness on the public transport vehicles to widen the propagation of the message. To spread the message of cleanliness among the different strata of society jute bags, paper cups, paper straws and others were distributed to fruit sellers, vegetable sellers, tea shop owners and others.
