A technical team of the Central Government reviewed the infrastructure facilities at the Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital on Saturday for setting up a second AIIMS in Odisha as proposed by the State Government.
The Central team had reached Sundargarh district on Friday and stayed at a guesthouse of the NTPC at Darlipali at night. The members visited the medical college in the morning on Saturday.
Source said that the team would submit its preliminary report to the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on the State’s proposal for establishment of an AIIMS at the NTPC Medical College & Hospital after assessment.
Earlier, State Health Minister Naba Kishore Das had written to the Union Ministry proposing it for establishing a second AIIMS in Odisha.
