The Chhattisgarh State Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has postponed Class X examinations due to a spike in Coronavirus cases in the state, it was announced on Friday. The examination for the current academic session was scheduled to be held from April 15 to May 1.
The decision was taken keeping in mind the growing spread of Covid-19 cases in the state and the lockdown in many districts, an official press release said.
Earlier, the Board had decided that if a student tested Covid positive or comes in a lockdown area or containment zone and fails to appear in the exam, his/her marksheet will be marked ‘C’ instead of ‘Absent’.
Such students will not get marks in the subjects of their absence but will be considered ‘passed’. Students with ‘C’ in their marksheet can appear in a special examination conducted along with the supplementary.
Last month, the government decided to close all state-run, central and private schools and to promote the students of all classes except X and XII to the next class without examining them.
On Thursday, 10,652 people were detected Covid-19 positive in the state and 72 patients died.
