Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday announced the acquisition of the Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College on Tuesday in a bid to improve the state of medical education in the state.
He said the acquisition process will start soon. A proposal will be brought in the cabinet soon and further action will be taken.
Baghel made the announcement while addressing a programme organized on the occasion of Chandrakar's 'punyatithi' at Kachandur in Durg district.
It should be noted that in view of the difficulties being faced in operating the Medical College, the management had requested the government to take over it with a view to improve the quality of medical education in Chhattisgarh.
Baghel said it was Chandrakar’s dream to open a medical college in Durg district so that the students may get better higher educational facilities. Recently, there have been problems in running this college. So, the college management urged the government to acquire it.
The Chief Minister shared his memories of Chandrakar, calling him a true gem of Chhattisgarh. He used to travel abroad frequently but never gave up on his Chhattisgarhi nature. His reporting and photography skills gained him recognition in India and abroad.
On the occasion, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said Chandrakar played an important role in the creation of Chhattisgarh. He also contributed greatly to politics as well as journalism.
