Chhattisgarh will be usingRemdesivir, Tocilizumaband Convalescent plasma selec-tively vis-a-vis the Covid-19patients from now on.The Health Department is com-ing out with a new protocol ontheir use based on the newguidelines issued by the Centralgovernment, Dr Subash Mishra,Director, Epidemic Control,Chhattisgarh, said on Monday.Interacting with the media virtu-ally, Dr Mishra said thatAIIMS/ICMR-Covid-19National Task Force/JointMonitoring Group has issuednew guidelines for the treatmentof Covid positive patients. They have taken off Remdesivir,Tocilizumab and Convalescentplasma based on limited avail-able evidence. Doctors have beenadvised to use these medicinesand plasma only in specific cir-cumstances.With the new protocol, the use ofRemdesivir will further bereduced, he added. The consentof the patient is mandatory ifthese medicines or plasma are tobe administered.Dr Mishra said that exceptMahasamund, all other districtshave recorded a lower rate ofpositive cases when compared toSunday. Thus, the overall situa-tion is under control, he said.
