A joint initiative in the villages of the bordering districts of Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh) and Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh) will start on July 22 as part of a drive to eradicate malaria.
Under the initiative, mass screening programmes will commence in the villages for malaria. The health department staff of both states will conduct house-to-house surveys.
Rajnandgaon Collector Taran Prakash Sinha said in a statement that the survey team will cover 17 villages of Khairagarh block and seven villages of Chhuikhadan in Chhattisgarh.
The health team will cover 11 villages of Birsa in Madhya Pradesh.
The teams will ensure cent percent collection of blood samples for tests. The villagers will also be made aware of preventive measures to tackle malaria.
