Civic bodies crackdown on illegal hoardings, banners

Sunday, 11 April 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The North and South Delhi Municipal Corporation launched an intensive drive on illegal hoardings and banners in its jurisdiction.

A senior North Corporation official said the corporation’s Keshav Puram Zone launched the drive and removed 1250 banners which were mostly of political or social nature.

“Such drives would continue in future also. The citizens are appealed to not indulge in illegal mode of advertising. They must opt for legal mode/site for advertising their product or campaigning. Otherwise they may have to face action in the form of imprisonment or penalty,” he said.

Mayor of North Delhi Jai Prakash said that Delhi is our capital and keeping it clean is our duty. “Sweeping only cannot improve the look of the area but aesthetics need to be maintained for overall improvement in the view/look of the locality. Citizens’ contribution is imperative in keeping the city more clean, green and beautiful,” he said.

Meanwhile South Corporation also removed illegal encroachment from RK Puram Sector-8, Sector-9, Kashmiri Market, Mohan Singh Market, Vivekanand Marg, Ring Road etc.
