Punjab Congress’ outgoing president Sunil Jakhar on Friday stirred up a controversy over his remarks that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh directed the farmers’ protest to Delhi.
Jakhar, speaking during the installation ceremony of Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu at Punjab Congress Bhawan, praised the Chief Minister for handling of the stir saying that if the situation was not handled properly, the Punjab Government would have suffered the wrath of the protesters.
“The whole of Punjab came out in protest against the three farm laws. At that time if there had been any other CM other than Capt Amarinder Singh, then, the protests being held against the BJP today would have been against the Punjab Government and Congress,” he said.
The CM handled them successfully and sent them to the Delhi border, he said while calling it a big achievement of Capt Amarinder.
