Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed all officers and employees of local bodies and Panchayati Raj department to visit the affected areas and take stock of the damage caused by the incessant rainfall in the last two days and provide relief to the marooned people.

Addressing a high-level meeting in Lucknow on Friday, the chief minister said that the Health department and civic bodies should initiate appropriate measures to ensure that no disease spreads because of water-logging. He also directed the officials to make necessary arrangements for the treatment of patients found infected with viral fever and other diseases arising out of seasonal vagaries in various parts of the state.

Besides, instructions were given to expedite relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected districts on an immediate basis.

Putting all its efforts to mitigate the impact of floods and alleviate the condition of the affected residents across the state, the state government has established around 1,134 relief shelters in 506 villages of 13 districts. Besides, as many as 451 motorboats, 208 vehicles and 1,225 medical teams have also been engaged for search, rescue and relief operations.

Yogi also directed the authorities to keep a constant eye on the water level of rivers and make all necessary preparations for flood control.

Over 64 teams, including those of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed in 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh to tackle the floods.

Officials have also been directed to ensure that relief operations are not delayed in areas affected by floods or excessive rains.

Over 2,90,239 dry ration kits have been distributed so far while 17,730 dry ration kits were distributed in the last 24 hours. The state government has distributed over 5.80 lakh lunch packets to the affected people till now. In the last 24 hours itself, 11,000 lunch packets were distributed.

For protection of animals, the government has so far set up as many as 1,770 animal camps across the state where more than 8.29 lakh cattleheads have been vaccinated.
