Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed worship of river 'Maa Narmada' at its origin point situated in pious town of Amarkantak along with his wife on the second day of Narmada Janmotsav. He wished for progress, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. Pandit Umesh Dwivedi, Pandit Uttam Prasad Dwivedi and Pandit Kamta Prasad Dwivedi conducted prayers with rituals at the holy river’s origin point.
During the Narmada Janmotsav celebrations, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed pujan of 108 girls followed by Kanya Bhoj. Chief Minister Chouhan also served food to the girls at Kanya Bhoj.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his wife Sadhna Singh also attended the bhandara programme organised by Maa Narmada Temple on the second day of the Narmada Janmotsav. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also honored sadhus and saints with shawl and shriphal.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Bisahulal Singh, former Union Minister Uma Bharti, MP Himadri Singh and District Panchayat President Roopmati Singh were present.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday planted a sapling in Shubhdhara area of ??Amarkantak in Anuppur district. He said that tree plantation is a pious work; all people should accord priority to plantation of saplings. All should contribute towards the protection and conservation of nature by saving trees. The Chief Minister also urged the citizens to plant saplings and protect them.
Initiating the vow to plant one sapling daily, the Chief Minister said that he had decided to plant one sapling every day on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti in Amarkantak. Today it has been started by planting Rudraksha and Sal trees. Along with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his wife Sadhana Singh also planted saplings.
