The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday alleged that the North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner is not submitting report of the Rani Jhansi flyover that took 25 years to complete under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
As the cost of completing the Rani Jhansi flyover increased by a humongous 409 per cent, the commissioner concerned is not willing to reveal the names of the guilty officers and politicians, Bhardwaj said.
Questioning the inordinate delay in completion of the Rani Jhansi flyover, constructed by the north Corporation in almost25-long-years, he said that the cost of completion of this flyover was stated to be `175 crore, but with an exponential increase of 409 per cent the final cost came around `724 crore. This means that an unnecessary `546 crore was wasted in completing the flyover, he added.
The 1.6-km-long flyover from St Stephens Hospital to Filmistaan Cinema was originally scheduled to be completed by September 2010 ahead of the Commonwealth games in the national Capital. However, it was completed only in August 2018 and inaugurated the same year in October.
