The Chhattisgarh Congress observed a Kisan Adhikar Diwas on Friday and marched to the Raj Bhavan in Raipur against the three new farm laws as well as hike in fuel prices as part of its nationwide protests.
Scores of Congress workers and leaders, led by state unit President Mohan Markam, staged a protest at the party headquarters.
Addressing the crowd, Markam accused the Modi government of forcefully imposing the anti-farmer law on "annadata" (farmers) while more than 62 crore farmers across the country were against the legislation.
With the "black law", Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to help his few industrialist friends, he alleged.
He asserted that the Congress will keep fighting until the Centre repeals the laws.
After the protest, the party workers took out a rally towards the Raj Bhawan. Markam reached the Raj Bhawan by driving a tractor.
A delegation of Congress leaders led by Markam met Governor Anuisuiya Uike and handed over a memorandum addressed to President Ramnath Kovind against the farm bills and hike in fuel prices.
The delegation included Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma and senior MLAs Satyanarayan Sharma and Dhanendra Sahu.
