Congress ignored Assam's progress: Yogi

Wednesday, 24 March 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Lambasting the Congress, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the policy of the grand old party was to divide and rule whereas Bharatiya Janata Party believed in 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.

"Since our government has been at the forefront, it has contributed to Assam's progress which was ignored during the Congress regime. They had intentionally neglected the region, putting a stop to the wheel of development here," the UP chief minister said while addressing a rally in Assam.

Yogi Adityanath said that Assam had become a downtrodden state which was unable to tackle any of its problems but with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's hard work and dedication and the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the situation had now changed in the state.

Ahead of the Assam assembly elections 2021, CM Yogi attended three public rallies at Udharbond, Silchar and Borkhola assembly constituencies of the state on Tuesday.

Criticising the Congress for being involved in rhino poaching, Yogi Adityanath said that rhinoceros was the state's identity but the Congress government used to smuggle its horn.

"As soon as the BJP came to power, it ensured the development of a society where there is no cruelty to the animal. Our government made sure that the message of rhino protection is spread to every corner of the state," he said.

Yogi Adityanath said that infrastructure, education, connectivity, health, women empowerment, and other initiatives were a part of BJP's aim for inclusive development.

Applauding BJP's work in Assam, the UP chief minister said: "In the last six years, there was no discrimination done by the government. People are reaping the benefits of schemes like Kisan Nidhi, PM Housing, Ayushman Bharat. Likewise, once again the double-engine government is necessary for the overall improvement of the region," he said.

Thanking the people of Assam who contributed their part for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Yogi Adityanath said the Ram temple was not only the identity of UP but the entire country.

"After the construction of Ram temple, Ayodhya is poised to become one of the best tourist attractions across the country," he said.

The UP chief minister said that the people of Assam had to face the wrath of floods every year and to make the state flood-free in the next five years the Central and Assam governments were working together and preparing an action plan in this regard.

He said as part of the BJP's thrust on developing infrastructure in the Northeast, new airports would be constructed with state-of-the-art facilities. Apart from this, Yogi Adityanath said, the state government had also undertaken several projects to strengthen road infrastructure.

"We must ensure that India reaches the path of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat," the UP chief minister said while ending his speech.
