As many as 67 people were found infected by the Covid-19 virus in Jharkhand in the past 24 hours — the lowest single-day-spike reported in over a month, health officials said.

As per a bulletin released by the National Health Mission (NHM), the number of active cases of Covid-19 infection dropped down to 1032 on Thursday as at least 136 patients recovered on the day.

Of the 67 people found infected, at least 35 were residents of Ranchi, NHM stated in its bulletin. However, the district also reported 57 of the 136 recoveries.

Barring Ranchi, no other district reported a double-digit-spike in cases on Thursday. Dhanbad reported only two cases against 16 recoveries, while East Singhbhum reported five cases against 23 recoveries. As many as five people were found infected in Bokaro and seven patients recovered there.

Meanwhile, one more Covid patient, a resident of Ranchi, died during treatment on the day, taking the Covid toll in the State up at 1058 and that in Ranchi to 227.

The Government has so far collected swab samples of 51.07 lakh people and tested 50.92 lakh of them. On Thursday, the state collected swab samples of 10,657 people and less than 1 per cent of them were found infected.
