Thursday, 08 April 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Covid-19 claimed two lives during the second wave of the pandemic here in the steel city during the past 24 hours. Both the victims were women. While one of them was a 72 year resident of Gamharia the other was 48 year a resident of Golmuri.  The total deaths due to Covid in the district have now reached 380 so far.

Earlier, those who died of Covid were a 34-year-old man and a 61-year-old man, both residents of Mango.  The 34-year-old man was admitted at the Tata Main Hospital with complaints of high fever on Sunday.

He was subjected to Covid test the same day and wasted positive. By Monday evening he complained of difficulty in taking breath and finally succumbed to his illness late on Monday night.

The 64-year-old was admitted at the Tata Main Hospital five days ago with a complaint of fever and cough. He was tested Covid positive the same day of his admission. On Monday night, he complained of acute breathing problems and subsequently died late in the night.

A health official admitted that the Covid cases are increasing fast, informing that the department is paying more and more focus on detection of cases as well as vaccinating the people.

On the other hand, there is a crisis of Covishield vaccine at the government-run health hubs. In most of the 20 health hubs, the vaccine is being given to the recipients of second dose only.

Most of those queueing up for the first dose of the vaccine have to return home.
