Covid-19 contagion on record breaking spree in U’khand

The Viral wave of Covid-19 sweeping in Uttarakhand is getting more pronounced and is smashing records with each passing day. After reporting a record 2220 patients on Thursday the state health department reported a staggering 2402 cases of the disease on Friday. The state now has 118646 (cumulative) cases of the disease. The authorities also reported the death of 17 patients on Friday which increased the death toll from the disease to 1819.

The health department discharged 1080 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on Friday.  A total of 100857 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage has now dropped further to 85.01 and the sample positivity rate is 3.65 percent.

The provisional state capital Dehradun and Haridwar districts are continuing to reel under an onslaught of the disease. In Dehradun 1051 cases of the disease were reported while 539 new patients surfaced in Haridwar district on Friday.

In Dehradun the Government Nursing school was closed and its hostel was made a containment zone by the health department after a large number of students were found infected with

Covid-19.

The authorities also reported 296 patients from Nainital, 220 from Udham Singh Nagar, 76 from Pauri, 52 from Champawat, , 48 from Almora, 39 from Tehri, 29 from Chamoli, 19 from Bageshwar, 17 from Rudraprayag, 14 from Uttarkashi and two from Pithoragarh on Friday. The health department reported the death of five patients of the disease from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Friday. Similarly two patients each were reported dead at the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, Mahant Indiresh hospital, Kailash hospital Dehradun and JLN District hospital Rudrapur on the day. One patient each succumbed to the disease at Arihant hospital, Max hospital Dehradun, Himalayan hospital and Military hospital Roorkee on Friday.

The state now has 13546 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 5617 patients, Haridwar has 3965, Nainital 1466, Udham Singh Nagar 721, Pauri 549, Tehri 369, Almora 191, Champawat 177, Rudraprayag 145, Bageshwar 108, Chamoli 93 Pithoragarh 80, and Uttarkashi 65 active cases of Covid-19 each.

In the vaccination drive 48448 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Friday. In the state 225505 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine.

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 669 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Friday.
