Dhanbad deputy commissioner-cum-chairman of district disaster management authority has constituted a committee headed by civil surgeon for holding audit of covid related deaths that have been reported in nine hospitals of district .
These include five private hospitals, including Pragati Nursing Home, ASIAN Jalan hospital, Patliputra Nursing home, Asharfi Hospital and Hilltop Nursing home. The four Government hospitals include the dedicated covid Centre of Central hospital, SNMMCH based Cath lab covid centre,divisional railway hospital and Sadar hospital.
Complaints of negligence in treating covid patients had been pouring in from different corners besides realisation of hefty hospitalisation and treatment charges by the private hospital despite deaths.
Dhanbad till yesterday has reported 352 covis deaths and majority of these have been reported during the current phase of the pandemic. Deputy Commissioner US Singh said civil surgeon Gopal Das is to head the committee.
He said besides identifying lapses in treating covid pItents ,the committee would prepare a report on each of the deaths after holding discussions with the family members of those deceased. The report would be prepared on National Format for Disease control, he said. It’s nothing like timidation but to ensure that all hospitals be they private or government be prepared to combat expected third phase of the disease and death cases may be minimised, added deputy commissioner.
He said yet another aim of the audit is to make preparations for ICU especially for the kids that may be affected in the third phase of this pandemic.
