Members of the Lingaraj Sena provided rice, dal and other dry foods to the poor and downtrodden, besides giving special relief to the lower middleclass people who are hit by the Covid crisis at Old Town area.
The expenditures incurred towards the noble endeavour were met from the corpus fund created by the donation of the Sena members.
The programme of relief distribution was inaugurated jointly by Lingaraj Sena president Rajendra Samartha and Ekamra Nagari Senior Citizens’ Forum president Hrusikesh Tripathy on July 24 at Sashan Padia, Old Town.
The relief distribution shall continue consecutively for two days. The distinctive feature of the programme was that the worst hit lower middle class people were distributed with relief materials like rice, pulses, flour etc. besides relief administered to tens and thousands people of downtrodden class.
Lingaraj Sena president Samartha told, “We have extended relief to the lower middle class people as they are unable to speak about their stories of starvation and suffering owing to their social prestige. It took some time for us to convince them for accepting the relief materials to enable them to sustain themselves for a few days.”
Among others present were Brahman Niyog president Samiti Shyamsundar Mahapatra, Narendra Samartha, Haladhar Malia, Dhiren Pattnaik, Sena secretary Biranchi Pati, Anchala Batu, Benudhar Patra and Kamalakant Batu.
