Covid test centre to be set up at airport

Thursday, 25 February 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

A Covid testing centre would be set up at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Wednesday.

In the case of detection of Covid-19 symptoms in any passenger during screening, he/she would undergo mandatory test, he said. “Currently, there is no rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar. The trends are similar to that of the previous month. However, we have taken precautionary measures and intensified the enforcement,” the BMC Commissioner said. He further informed that detailed contact tracing of Covid-19 positive persons in the city has started from Tuesday.

Efforts are underway to increase the number of tests. More tests would be conducted in the areas from where Covid cases are being detected, he added.
