The third phase vaccination drive began on Monday in Bhubaneswar for the age group of 18 and 44. Those, who have registered themselves on Cowin portal and got the slot, took the jab at the allotted vaccination centres.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set a target to vaccinate as many as 5 lakh people. All the beneficiaries from this group would be given the second doses by the end of June or the first week of July.
The inoculation programme on Monday, which started from 8 am, continued till 1 pm for 18-44 age group while the beneficiaries above 45 got the jab between 3 pm and 6 pm at the same centres.
Youths were seen queuing up at different vaccination sites in the city in sizzling heat while waiting patiently for their turn. The civic body began the vaccination drive after receiving 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin from the Bharat Biotech.
However, the BMC advised citizens of 18-44-age group not to visit vaccination centres without registration, which can be done at selfregistration.cowin.gov.in.
