CPI-M demands dismissal of Union minister

Wednesday, 13 October 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

The state unit of Communist Party of India (Marxists) demanded the removal of Union Minister of State for Home Ashish Mishra ‘Teni’ from his post with immediate effect over his son’s role in mowing down farmers leading to four deaths in Lakhimpur Kheri and his subsequent arrest.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, CPI-M leader Ravi Mishra alleged that Ashish Mishra was arrested over the brutal killing of agitating farmers and the ongoing investigation might be hampered if the Union minister continued to be in office and the very object of an impartial probe might suffer.

The CPI-M leader said that Ashish was arrested five days after his name surfaced in the crime and that too, after the Supreme Court took cognisance of the heinous crime and issued directions to the state government.
