The Vigilance police on Wednesday arrested Anganwadi Worker Kabita Mathan for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. Mathan was arrested and then forwarded to court a day after the anti-corruption agency conducted simultaneous raids at six places belonging to her and unearthed assets worth over Rs 4 crore. Mathan was working as an Anganwadi Worker at the Koradakanta Anganwadi Centre in Bhubaneswar. Four buildings, including a four-storied one, a three-storied one and two double-storied ones, in Bhubaneswar, 14 plots of land including 10 in Bhubaneswar, three at Talakusuma, Jagatsinghpur, and one at Balianta, Khordha district, were found owned by Mathan.
The Vigilance also discovered that Mathan owned a four-wheeler, three two-wheelers, insurance deposits of over Rs 2.2 lakh, gold ornaments weighing around 212 grams worth over Rs 6.36 lakh and other movable and immovable properties.
