The Bhopal district administration on Sunday early morning imposed curfew in four police station limits. Besides, it restricted assembly of more than five persons in some other areas as a precautionary measure.
After winning a court case over a piece of land (30,000 sq feet), the office bearers of Keshav Nidam, a saffron organisation, were constructing boundary wall on the land, near Sindhi Colony.
Since the construction started on Saturday evening, the administration had intelligence input that other community members, affected with the verdict, might oppose it openly, curfew was imposed.
The curfew order, issued by Bhopal District Magistrate Avinash Lavania, said a community is carrying out construction in the old city and there is a possibility of opposition by locals.
The Madhya Pradesh capital is ‘sensitive from communal point of view’, hence the decision to impose curfew has been taken, the order said. The curfew has been clamped in Hanumanganj, Tila Jamalpura and Gautam Nagar police station areas of the old city till further orders, Additional Collector Dilip Yadav said.
