Cuttack Durga Puja: ‘Let State Govt honour people’s feelings’

Wednesday, 15 September 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The State  Government should  take appropriate  steps  for  a smooth  conduct of the Durga Puja keeping in mind  the emotions of the residents of  Cuttack,  said Union Minister  Dharmendra Pradhan in a tweet on Tuesday.

The festivities in the historical city of Cuttack have a special place. But a few days ago, a dispute over the observance of Durga Puja has erupted. Discussions and agitations over the height of idols and other matters have cropped up, Pradhan pointed out.

The Cuttack Sahi, Puja and Peace Committees, intellectuals, social and cultural organisations are expressing different opinions. The State Government would seriously consider this and hold discussions with different stakeholders keeping in mind the emotions of the Cuttack people, hoped he.

The Covid-19 pandemic situation has improved slightly. Keeping in view the Covid restrictions, discussions should be held as to how the festivities can be carried out in a disciplined manner, he said.

“I came to know that a portion of the ceiling of the Cuttack Chandi Temple’s Darshan Mandap fell off due to incessant rains. I hope the State Government would take steps for the safety and preservation of the temple,” Pradhan further tweeted.
