Under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, a special cleanliness cum waste management programme was organised in Ward number 08 and 14 of Municipal Corporation area here on Tuesday.
During the programme, the DC said that people’s cooperation is necessary in making Deoghar clean, beautiful and healthy. Today, taking a pledge of cleanliness through this programme, there is a need to continue the campaign continuously.
“In such a situation, the role of all you women in making the cleanliness campaign a success is very commendable and necessary. At the same time, there is a need for collective participation in changing the profile of the city regarding cleanliness,” added the DC.
“We also have to take a pledge today that apart from the proper use of dry and wet wastes, we will neither do dirt nor allow anyone to do so. Along with this, efforts were also made continuously to make people aware of cleanliness,” he said.
Bhajantri said that this campaign is not a government programme, but cleanliness is a community issue and we all have to complete it together in a cordial environment. It is because of everyone’s cooperation that Deoghar district has become ODF. If all of us are determined, then change can be brought in the society.
The world famous AIIMS, an international airport is also almost ready, so waste management under Deoghar district is very important.
“Tourists come here from abroad, in such a situation, if tourists get green tourism along with cleanliness, keeping this in mind, the cleanliness programme has been started from ward-8 and ward-14,which is being led by Didis of Self Help Groups. Soon the work of waste management will be started in all the wards of the municipal corporation area. Under this programme, two dustbins have been provided in the houses of all the wards of the district for the management of dry and wet waste, which will be collected by the municipal garbage collection vehicle.
During the program, Bhajantri appealed to the residents of the district and said that plastic carry bags are a factor of short-term and long-term environmental damage.
