A de-addiction centre in Chandagada village wasransacked by irate villagers after a 22-year-old inmate was founddead on Sunday. The deceased’s family alleged that the centre’s trainer killed him.
The deceased was Sk Jabar, a resident of Banta village on the outskirts of Jagatsinghpur town.Irate villagers also staged a road blockade at Court Chhak onCuttack-Jagatsinghpur NH 55.
Later, police rushed to the spot,seized the body and maintained law and order.Reports said the de-addiction centre ‘Chesta’ provides treatmentto youth falling prey to drugs and intoxicant consumption. DeceasedJabar’s family had sent Jabar for treatment to the centre a month’sback and paid necessary monthly charges Rs 12,000.
Jabar’s father SeraAli had visited the centre on Sunday morning but the centre’sauthority had restricted him to meeting his son citing Covid 19reason.
Strangely, on Sunday evening news about Jabar’s death was conveyed tohis family members. A case has been registered against de-addiction centre owner RajkishorDas who has absconded soon after the incident. Meanwhile, a manhunthas been launched against the accused, informed Jagatsinghpur SDPOPriya Ranjan Satapathy.
