Decks cleared for setting up AIIMs in Ranchi

Thursday, 28 October 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Decks have been cleared for setting up the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) centre in Ranchi. State industry director, based on the letter received from the Prime Minister office (PMO), has written a letter to the State Health secretary urging him to identify land for establishment of AIIMS campus in Ranchi.

Industry director Jitendra Kumar Singh through his letter has mentioned that the Prime Minister's Office has considered a proposal for the establishment of AIIMS in Ranchi. The industry director has further mentioned about identification of land in Ranchi where the health hub will be set up.

Industry director Jitendra Kumar Singh said, “We have received a representation for setting up AIIMS in Ranchi. Based on the letter we have forwarded the letter to the state health department seeking their opinion for setting up AIIMs in Ranchi.”

It may be noted that Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth had demanded the PM to open AIIMS in Ranchi on 28 July 2021. He had informed the PM that Ranchi is witnessing population growth in the past few decades and required better health facilities as a large number of people from all over the state come here for treatment.

Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth said, “The Prime Minister office (PMO) has written a letter to the state government seeking government feedback for setting up AIIMS in Ranchi. This is the first step in the direction of setting up AIIMS in Ranchi.”

Seth further said that during meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I have apprised him how setting up AIIMS will be a milestone in direction of providing better health facilities to people not only in Ranchi, but entire state and neighbouring states such as Bengal Odisha and Chhattisgarh as these states border touches State.

The Ranchi MP said that Ranchi is a city which is well connected with air, train and road network.  “As the capital climate is pleasant along with all facilities such as education, markets, doctors working in premier health hubs across the country will not be hesitant in shifting to Ranchi.”

Establishment of AIMS is necessary for the purpose of providing better treatment, at less cost to the citizens in Ranchi.

If AIMS opens in Ranchi then it will be second in Jharkhand. Earlier AIIMS operated in Deoghar. It was inaugurated in the same year. It has been prepared with Rs 1100 crore. Right now 200 patients are being treated here every day. Deoghar's AIIMS is the 13th AIIMS in the country.
