A day after issuing an enraged statement threatening the farmers’ leaders of “exposing” them, Punjabi actor-singer Deep Sidhu on Friday asserted that whatever happened on January 26 at the Red Fort “appears to be a trap”. At the same time, Sidhu asserted that he would soon join the investigation but he “need some time to bring out the truth”.
“…after looking at all the information now, it appears that it could also be a trap. Be it of the Delhi police or of the government. It appears to be a trap,” said Sidhu, in his over 15-minute video statement released on Friday on Facebook.
Sidhu has recently hit the headlines for his alleged involvement in inciting a mob to hoist a religious flag at the Red Fort on the Republic Day, for which he has also been booked by the Delhi Police.
Notably, Sidhu was present at the Red Fort when a religious flag and a farmer flag were put at the flagpole at the historic monument, triggering massive outrage across the nation. Sidhu had also been accused by the farmers’ leaders of trying to defame their agitation and termed him a “traitor” while demanding his social boycott.
“Arrest warrant has been issued against me and also a look out notice has been issued against me. First, I want to give this message that I will join the investigation…but I need some time to bring out the truth,” he said in the video message, adding that “…whatever has been spread, it is false information and it is misleading the public at large.
