Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta’s ‘Jhuggi Samman Yatra’ Thursday reached out to jhuggi dwellers of Nimdi Colony and Wazirpur Industrial Area.

BJP leaders interacted with slum dwellers there and distributed 20 Ujwala Gas Connections to families.

In his inaugural speech, Gaurav Bhatia, National Spokesperson, said that we have gathered here today with a resolve to give home to every homeless poor, and to make dreams of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the benefits of development to the last person of society come true. “We have to ensure that the poorest of the poor have a reason to smile,” Bhatia said. “Jhuggi dwellers are hardworking; we have to not only appreciate them but also connect their educated children with the mainstream of society,” he added.

In his address to jhuggi dwellers Gupta said that for almost the last 25 years Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have shown hollow dreams to jhuggi dwellers but when it came to development of jhuggi bastis they ignored them.

“We have started this journey to end ignorance of development in jhuggi bastis,” the BJP leader added.

Gupta, president, Dlehi BJP said on one hand I feel happy to see hard working children of jhuggi dwellers gaining good educational degrees but on other I feel sad that these hard-working jhuggi dwellers are compelled to drink dirty water and their camps lack health facilities. “Children in jhuggi camps want to study science but Delhi government schools in their vicinity don’t have provision to teach science,” “we will change the situation and force Delhi’s Kejriwal Government to start development works in jhuggi camps,” said the BJP leader.

Delhi BJP General Secretary Dinesh Pratap Singh, Spokespersons Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Satish Garg, J.J. Cell Convenor, Sushil Chauhan, Keshavpuram district leader  Shyam Sharma, and other party workers also joined the yatra.
