Delhi-bound AI flight aborts takeoff after hitting bird

A Delhi-bound Air India plane abandoned take off after suffering a bird-hit while ascending on the runway of the Swami Vivekanand Airport here on Tuesday morning.

Airport Director Rakesh Ranjan Sahay told the media that flight AIC-469, with 179 passengers on board, was about to leave from the Chhattisgarh capital when a bird hit it at 10.05 am. No passenger was hurt and the aircraft was taken to a parking bay. Engineers inspected the damage caused by the incident, Sahay said.

The passengers later flew to the national capital by a special flight at 3.00 p.m

Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh was among the passengers. She was going to Delhi to attend a meeting of the Union Cabinet.
