Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister, Satyendar Jain thanked doctors, nurses and paramedic staff on the ocassion of National Doctors Day, for their exceptional service during the second wave of Covid-19.  

“There is a need to work together to combat Coronavirus,” Kejriwal said. “On behalf of the Delhi Government and the people of Delhi, I thank every doctor, nurse and paramedic staff for working selflessly during this pandemic.”

“We are dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic for more than one year now. We have faced two waves of it. The second wave was more brutal. Every family was affected by the second wave. A lot of people also lost their lives during this time. The Delhi Government with doctors, nurses and paramedic staff tried their best to combat the virus,” Kejriwal added.

“Coronavirus is such a large problem and no Government or institution can deal with it individually. We need to work together to combat the Coronavirus. We would not have succeeded if we had not got cooperation from society.

“We are thankful to the charitable trusts, non-profit organisations, and corporate sector that stepped up during this tough time and lent a helping hand,” he said.  “On behalf of the Delhi Government, I thank them for their support. The Delhi Government is trying to ensure that the problems we faced during the second wave, especially with regard to oxygen, don’t occur during the third wave,” he added.

Jain who also thanked doctors and nurses for their selfless services said, “Delhi Government is ready for third wave as Indira Gandhi Hospital’s 1,243 beds are ready for patients in all respects.”

He also inaugurated a new dialysis and paediatric ICU ward at the Indira Gandhi Hospital.

 Jain also thanked the Indian Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and said, “Despite the huge shortage of medical supplies in the market, the trust provided us with 1,200 high-quality parameter patient monitors. This was the time when we were facing a shortage of monitors and the Indian Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provided us great relief. Not only this, they generously donated 500 high-quality oxygen concentrators each of 10 litres.”
