Delhi Police Week ends after covering city

With focus to establish communication with the general public, the Delhi Police Week, launched on February 16, ended on Tuesday. The nine ‘Jan Sampark Vahaans’, during the week moved across the city displaying Delhi Police Heritage, its good works during Covid-19 pandemic & lockdown and various online services available for public.

According to Chinmoy Biswal, the Public Relation Officer (PRO), Delhi Police, a techno-savvy community policing Liaison Police Officer and a lady Public Facilitation Officer (PFO) were deputed at the Vahan to interact with the public and disseminate information about various community policing and citizen centric schemes of Delhi Police.

“During the Police Week, From February 16 to 22, these vehicles had covered most of the prominent areas including iconic places, malls, universities, colleges, main markets and other high footfall area, main traffic squares, markets, schools, major parks, bus stands, entrances/exists of Metro Stations, unauthorised or re-settlement colonies,” said Biswal.

“In these visits police conducted various live interactive sessions in which social, health and cyber issues were explained by experts and awareness about women safety & security, gender sensitisation, ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ was displayed through folk dance performances and Nukkad Naataks,” said Biswal.

“The birthday celebrations of senior citizens earned public applause. Apart from this, several programmes such as magic show, laughter show, folk dances, drawing competition were organised amid enthusiastic public participation and entertainment. District heads and Sub-Division Police Officers actively participated in these sessions along with local police and residents,” said the PRO.

“To enhance public participation, live display of police bands, dog Squads as well as self-defence techniques by Shashakti team were organized.  The children enjoyed the visit of Jan Sampark Vahan and they were greeted with toffees and chocolates,” said the PRO.

“During the Delhi Police Week, these three Jan Sampark Vahans together covered a total of around 6,000 kms and spent about 900 hours in various parts of Delhi. These Jan Sampark Vahans proved immensely useful in strengthening the bridge between Delhi Police and Delhi citizens,” said the PRO.
