Delhi reported 31 new cases on Wednesday while the positivity rate stood at 0.05 per cent, according to a health bulletin issued by the health department of the Delhi Government.

As per the bulletin, a total of 65548 tests - 46,426 RT-PCR tests and 19,122 rapid antigen tests - were conducted a day ago, the bulletin said.

“The Covid case tally in Delhi reached 1439283 of which over 14.13 lakh patients have recovered. The death toll has risen to 25,089,” it said.

The national Capital has 12,600 ICU beds as on Tuesday. Delhi battled a brutal second wave of the pandemic in April and May that claimed a massive number of lives with the issue of oxygen shortage in hospitals adding to the woes.

On April 20, Delhi had reported 28,395 cases, the highest in the city since the beginning of the pandemic. On April 22, the case positivity rate was 36.2 per cent, the highest so far. The highest number of 448 deaths was reported on May 3.

The Delhi Government has taken steps to increase the number of hospital beds to accommodate up to 37,000 patients a day and to become self-reliant in terms of oxygen supply.
