Delhi Police has arrested 32-year-old YouTuber on charges of cruelty against an animal for allegedly shooting a video wherein he tied his petdog with helium gas balloons and risked it’s life by setting it afloat in South Delhi.
The accused identified as Gaurav Sharma is a resident of Panchsheel Vihar in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar and he has 4.15 million subscribers for his YouTube channel. According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the DCP, South district, the matter came to notice after a complaint was received at the Malviya Nagar police station by Gaurav Gupta, a member of ‘People for Animals Society.’ He alleged that Sharma had made a video where they were seen to have tied their pet dog with helium balloons and later they let loose the balloons thereby making the dog fly in the air and hence, risking its life. The video was shot on May 21 and the purported video has been removed from his YouTube channel,” said the DCP.” Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of Indian Penal Code, Disaster Management Act and other relevant sections of Prevention to Cruelty to Animal Act at Malviya Nagar police station,” said the DCP.
